He's gonna play DH for them? He's making $10 million this year and then has third year arb remaining. I wouldn't wanna give up much for him to play DH.

Head was the #25 draft pick in the last draft. Martorella is ranked #13 by Pipeline. They gave Woo Suk-Go $4.5 million to come over from KBO thsi offseason and right now he's in AA - I dunno what his story is but they might be happy to get rid of him
edit: Also got Jakob Marsee, #9 on Pipeline. Marsee and Martorella look a little underwhelming compared to those rankings tbh

This left me wondering how often Bogaerts will be playing second. The talk is of rotating position players through the DH spot and his name was mentioned as part of that.
His numbers are down again this season from his glory days with the Sox when he carried an OPS+ of around 130 year after year. Tough time for him.

Money is tight in San Diego. I can't help but wonder what they were offering for minimum salary Duran in the offseason.

I can’t decide whose process I hate more - the Marlins not bothering to check what anyone else would offer for Arraez on *checks calendar* May 3rd, or the Padres for indulging AJ Preller making moves based entirely on his own fancy or sense of self-interest

The Big Maple now 4-0 with a 3.06 ERA but incredibly, it comes with 5.26 K/9, 7.71 BB/9, 6.16 xERA, and 6.23 xFIP. I would have been happy to have him back for $7M/1, but it looks like things will get ugly fast as soon as reality catches up with him.

Manzardo up for Cleveland
I think I’d rather face Civale for however long Tampa keeps him than Manzardo for awhile

www.baseballprospectus.com/player/111290/clarke-schmidt/There was a rumored offer of Schmidt for Verdugo last year. I don't know if that was still available this off season after the Yankees traded much of their pitching depth in the Soto deal. Weissert has pitched well, Fitts is moving up the SP prospect list, and Judice has yet to debut. Schmidt is pitching better this year and has 3 more years of control. I was wondering which deal the board thinks would have been the best return for Verdugo.

That deal was floated out there but Schmidt obviously had significantly more value than Verdugo with the several more years of control, and one of the beat writers debunked the rumor at some point I seem to recall.

Yeah, I think the type of pitchers we got from the Yankees are kind of different class than Schmidt (Although the jury is still out on Judice and to an extent Fitts). Don't get me wrong I love the trade, but kind of quant vs. qual prospect wise..

He just needed to get the pressure of the no hitter off his back. He ended up going 8 innings giving up 5 hits and 2 runs.
