Figured it made sense to create a thread for 2b as it's likely the Sox trade for a 2b unless they sign a declining Merrifield.
FWIW Jim Bowden listed Alex Verdugo among the Braves' targets.
Perhaps the Sox can pry Vaughn Grissom loose, given that hes blocked by Albies and isnt really a SS. I like his RH bat toward the top of the order. I think he could be a potential .300 hitter.
I figured Duran would be what they Braves would require given that Grissom has 5 plus years of control, but if Verdugo would do the trick I'd be happy with that, although I suspect the Sox would have to send another lesser player to even it out a bit. It would also free the Sox up to deal Valdez and/ot Yorke.
If the Sox could feasibly hand onto Duran and bat him and Grissom 1-2 in the order they'd have two good table setters for the middle of the order, which theyll hopefully beef up in a subsequent deal.

Love to see them pry Grissom away. It seems they are not sure what they have with him. They are even thinking of trying him the outfield because of his athletisim. Love his tools and would like that to be pursued but to me the Braves are one of the saviest organizations and they've always liked this kid.
I've been looking at rosters myself for a right-handed hitting second basemen. Not many turn me on or are available. The free agents are pretty terrible.

If they can turn Verdugo+ into Grissom I’ll all for it. I’m a bit worried about his glove even at 2B, but there’s upside at least. I wouldn’t mind being able to try Yorke and Grissom out at 2B over the next couple of years and seeing who can stick there long term.

Didnt think Chris Sale was the way to get him, lol.
