Man. Does that have to feel amazing for Booser. I can't even imagine. Almost everything went right tonight. Gotta love that road cookin'. Oh wait, that isn't how that is supposed to work. Whatever. Play every game on the road

Bernadino and Booser!! Keep it up. Lefty problem solved. Can we send down Joely and bring up Zack Kelly?

A mostly very excellent game = just a few blips. I'll take it!

Ceddanne's SS defense has so far been even worse than advertised, and it was advertised as well behind his CF defense. This team just has too many studly outfielders and no SS. Let’s slow the roll here. Let’s have a few games before we make a damning assessment, ok? I mean we are talking about the most challenging defensive position other than catcher, and he hadn’t prepared to play that position this year. Give him a week or two to get some reps and get his feet underneath him.

Great game for a lot of players who needed a great game. Even Dalbec hit. Abreu went deep as did Rafaela. Great to face bad pitching.
Casas went deep again. He seems like a good be to hit 35 homers or so.
Bello was excellent and Booser did a good job. Good for him. I already like him better than Jacques and Joely.

Quite an even distrubition of the RBI
Casas with 10 Duran and Valdez with 9 Masa, Rafaela, O'Neill, Wong, McGuire with 8

On the other hand, how long did the people begging for Ceddanne give Hamilton? He has 19 career starts at SS.

Since you are into small sample sizes, consider his HR/AB as a SS. This isn't a sample size argument. This is an eye test argument.
The sample size argument, i.e. his minor league track record, is the argument for playing Ceddanne in CF instead. If all 6 OF are healthy I acknowledge he needs to play a chunk of the time at SS, but until then I think he should be in CF.

IMO Ceddanne is like 6 runs above average in CF, and maybe 2 runs below average at SS (average major league SS is a really high bar)

Anyone like me checking to see Abreu’s updated wRC+ (which is now up to 106)? I think he’ll be alright. I’m hoping Yoshida can turn things around enough for the Sox to salary dump him at some point. I think Abreu, Anthony, Duran and Rafaela make a fine 3OF and DH rotation and I just don’t see Masa being an important part of the future. And this is ignoring O’Neill, who certainly seems to be finding his place and might not want to leave a coaching staff who believes in him and helps him. It’s a good logjam and Yoshida is by far the easiest to move on from.

I have to hope that the Sox will either turn Rafaela into a very good SS or bring in a quality defender IF they can keep up a winning record. Longterm he seems like their CF. But do not overlook the Mookie Betts phenomenon.

A lot of over reacting the first 20 games but I knew we’d be fine once we go Refsnyder and Wong in the middle of the lineup.

Everything else aside… Houck SO. Crawford dealing. Now 6 1-hit innings from Bello? The three home-grown musketeers. After decades of futility, they suddenly look like the Braves. The team is stacked with young pitching but can't field a competent SS to save their life. Need to go SS in the draft to balance out the system.

That’s a reasonable claim, but the near total absence of RHH on the forty and on the farm might suggests otherwise.

I really though starting pitching would be the achilles heal of the team this year. Pretty much thinking now that I was quite wrong !!! you and a whole bunch of us. That said, this level of success wasn't predicted by anyone that I know or read. Actually, I think Eno Saris of The Athletic called this and someone posted the prediction (aptly enough) in the predictions thread.
