Does noone see that he's having trouble throwing strikes? Valdez and Rafaela really helped pitcher out.

More likely, Yoshida isn't available today for some reason.

Masa with bases loaded and one out is a formula for a double play to end the inning. McGuire has twice as many GDPs as Yoshida this year and a similar ground ball rate and also had a higher ground ball rate last year

Still only the fifth inning. Is Slaten available for a few innings today?

Wong mediocre framing has something to do with it I think I can’t imagine Bart is this good at framing Didn't check the numbers but I remember reading about him when he got drafted that he was a good defender with power and contact issues.

Wink is not good this year, wondering if that bone chip in his foot is part of it. No he's just not good and got lucky last year. Yes, Winckowski’s WHIP was over 1.6 last year. He had base runners on constantly.

The way he's presently hitting, I'd leave Abreu in the cleanup spot when Devers and O'Neill get back.

What exactly would you recommend the medical staff do to prevent Trevor Story from ripping his left shoulder apart on a dive, Triston Casas from hurting his rib over-swinging, or Tyler O’Neill getting concussed because Devers accidentally rammed into his head - to name a few examples To add to what you said…. People always want to blame someone for things that happen. Sometimes things happen and it’s no ones fault. The treatment the players get after the injury is the medical staff’s business not the crazy dive at full extension Story made. O’Niell not calling off Devers or Devers not listening if he did. Maybe Casas could have avoided injury with more stretching or maybe not….

It's a 4-run game against a weak lineup...throw some fastballs. I sometimes hate the pitch calling this year.

Can't blame the Pirates for taking wild risks on the basepaths with Slaten on the mound

It's interesting that catchers interference is ruled an error, but unlike (I think) all other errors that allow a guy to reach base it doesn't count as an 0 for 1 in the box score for the hitter. It's kind of cool that they treat that differently.

Some mistakes were made for Justin Slaten to not be protected by a team that desperately needed relievers followed by him lasting until the Mets in the Rule 5 who then gave him away for a 10th round senior sign
