If they DFA Dalbec they'll need to call up another infielder, which means they'd then need to DFA someone else because Heineman is the only healthy position player in the minors on the 40-man. In other words, Dalbec wasn't an option here, which isn't to say they couldn't separately decide to make a switch at that roster spot in an unrelated move at some point. It was either 60-day Mata or DFA Jacques. I think there's a decent chance he clears, honestly. I do not believe 60-day DLs can be retroactive can they? When you transfer a guy from the 10/15-day it counts all of the previous dates, yes. It's not really "retroactive" cause he's been on the IL. When placing an active player on the IL you can backdate it by 3 days I think.

He struck out a former MVP and five time all star in his debut; that’s a fun fact to carry with him no matter what the rest of the road looks like.
Only seven pitches - I liked the cutter.

Joe Jacques DFA'ed to make room for Booser, per Cotillo. Jacques was claimed by the Diamondbacks.

Wasn’t Jacques a solid depth guy? Or am I missing something?

Not that I think Jacques is a big loss but a little confused at why we DFA him instead of sending one of walter/Mata to the 60 day IL

Not that I think Jacques is a big loss but a little confused at why we DFA him instead of sending one of walter/Mata to the 60 day IL 1) Chance of getting Mata back sooner than that (he's throwing bullpens) 2) Same with Walter, plus giving him MLB service time 3) Jacques isn't really any great shakes compared to what they already have. I'd have the MLB LHRPs plus Benitez all ahead of him just for LHRPs, plus Luetge could always pull it together. Not that I agree with all of the above, but that's the reasoning.
