One thing for certain. I take back all of my criticism of Bogearts defense. Sure, he had the range of an air rifle, but he was steadfast if unspectacular and there is something to be said about that after watching this miscarriage of a defense. Always available, too.

But Cora says Hamilton is a good fielder

Going forward, I’m betting the over for runs scored by the opponent every game. The Sox give ‘em out like candy.

Duran is pretty much all I watch for.

At least Jarren Duran is still a ton of fun to watch.

That ground ball was a run against the Sox.

But Cora says Hamilton is a good fielder lol, he also said Kiké was an athlete in response to his gaffes last year. I take what Cora says publicly about his players with an extreme grain of salt. No modern manager is going to say the equivalent to âyeah, that guy sucks.â Not in todayâs game.

I think the middle school kid should get the large box and the actual game should get the smaller box onscreen.

At what point do the yearly horrible defenses and last place finishes start reflecting poorly on Cora?

At a certain point, it doesn't matter whose fault it is — you have to part ways with the manager. We've crossed the bad juju threshold; there's no coming back.

You know, if you just reimagine the goal of the season to be setting the all-time record for the biggest gap between SP ERA and runs allowed/9, this gets more bearable.

The 1+ ERA sustained by the starters though the first 2 weeks of the year wasn't going to last, and well here we are. The defense remaining the same will be a laughing stock.
Get used to losing.
The good news is Julyan pointed out that the White Sox and A's can't be in the top 10 of the lottery. So the Sox have a real good chance of being in the top ten if they finish in the top 11 range of losing teams, surpassing Oakland and Chicago. Also a great chance at a top 6 pick.

One thing I like to remind myself is that in one year time these lineups are gonna have Mayer, Anthony, Teel and Grissom in them

At what point do the yearly horrible defenses and last place finishes start reflecting poorly on Cora? I imagine Breslow is asking that very same question. Like it’s easy to point to Cora - and for all we know his voice has grown stale in the clubhouse, or he’s sleeping and drinking on the job instead of teaching infield defense - but I’m not sure what a manager is supposed to do when David Hamilton or Pablo Reyes botch routine plays over and over and over again. Say “just do better”? Show them how to use a glove? It’s not like he can threaten to bench them - Devers and Gonzalez are unavailable, and if the front office was cool with Rafaela there you’d think they’d try it just once. But it’s a Friday night and this a Triple A team, so who really cares at this point

Offense is more disappointing to me than the defense. At this point, the bad defense just makes me laugh, but the offense is simply boring.

And this is the maximum amount of pain I can tolerate from one baseball game. I’ve got a pretty good book to read.

I don't know, when you're on pace to give up 180-190 unearned runs in a season, it's pretty deflating. When you score, the defense give it up. When they try to close games, the defense gives it up. When a starting rotation gives you a ton of ground balls like this one does, the defense gives it up.
