That’s when you want Trout burning you. In an 8-1 loss with your long reliever out there. It’s the perfect balance. The Red Sox fan in all of us gets a win, the baseball fan in all of us gets to see Trout murder a baseball

Here it comes. The Last Bobby Bomb.
507 feet is my guess.

yea between the elite pitching, McGuire mashing, the Story injury it's been a weird, if overall very good, start to the year. The pitchers needed a chance since they had numbers at least as good as much of what was on the market. It's still not everything you'd want, but it's pretty damned good so far. O'Neill was and is that bat people were clamoring for - again if he can stay healthy. Some on the board were looking for a player they already had. The injury to Story is difficult, no doubt about it. But that's why you stock the minors, to prep for the unforeseen. It's not weird, it's baseball. Again not really sure why “weird” pretty much posted in jest because McGuire doubled his home run output from last year, to put the game away, is triggering for anyone

That is not what you implied. The team is not weird at all. It looks to be constructed with some thought.

Valdez has looked better defensively, but he’s had contact issues. Wonder how long of a leash he gets when Grissom is back?

The team will need another right-handed bat. Maybe Grissom can provide that.

That is not what you implied. The team is not weird at all. It looks to be constructed with some thought. I’ll argue differently, I guess the post without the context of he just hit the hr could lead you to that. I liked all of our offseason moves and predicted 85.5 over under on wins in the win projections thread two days before the season started. I bring that up because your implication from your response is that I though the team would be hopeless this year, which I didn’t or don’t

Two knocks off the bench for the free-swinging youngster!

Nine games into the season, and we’ve scored one run in three of those games. Yes, it’s still early, but we need more production from Devers and Casas in particular. There’s a big difference finishing this trip 7-3 than 6-4; win today. What he said.

Very good day for Rafaela, he raised his season wRC+ from 48 to 85. A good reminder not to get too hung up on the super early season batting lines.

This team isn't Weird, It's strange and interesting... and Today's offensive output is because of this cosmic event.

Other notable changes today: Devers: 105 --> 133 McGuire: 137 --> 188 Hamilton: n/a --> 404 Yoshida's wRC+ only went from 90 to 92 but I also think today was a very good day for him with the most hard hit balls on the team (3), a walk and no K's. His xwOBA likely goes up meaningfully.

I'm excited to see more of Hamilton. I like that Cora just called him 'one of the best base runners in the big leagues' and it ought to be really fun seeing him on the basepaths with Duran if they bat 9,1...

TC on postgame just said Sox team ERA (1.49) is the lowest in the American League thru 10 games since 1982.
For a team with no pitching, that’s pretty good.

I appreciate that they played some mediocre offenses, but many teams have started their seasons against stretches of mediocre offenses over the last 42 years.

Solid win.
I'm convinced - the Red Sox are better than the A's and Angels. I stand by that astonishing statement, lol.
Houck was strong after a shaky 1st inning. McGuire had a great game. Hamilton did as well. Wish the Sox could always play Oakland and Anaheim, 2 messed up teams.
Eventually the Sox will have to decide if they're better off with Rafaela in CF and Hamilton and SS against righties or if they're better off with Rafaela at SS and Duran in CF between O'Neill and Abreu against righties.
I dont think Cora likes to shift players back and forth so I think initially he'll keep Rafaela in CF and SS will be Hamilton's job to lose.

Good time to remember that Tanner was a first round pick Spender Strider is the only pitcher picked in the 2017 draft with more bWAR than Houck. Rasmussen, Whitlock, and Skubal round out the top 5. If he doesn’t sign and gets drafted in 2020 is he really considered a product of the 2017 draft?(strider)

A 7-3 start to the season on a west coast trip is incredible. The anti-2019.
