I don’t think trading Linus in-season was all that realistic given the teams that need goalies and their geographic location. It will be much easier to move him this offseason

These aren't multiple reports of an Ullmark trade, btw. It is multiple people reacting to the Weekes story. I'm not saying he's wrong, but no one else really has confirmed it.
Be curious what the return would have been. People are speculating that it was Lub-Dubois, but that seems unlikely.
Seems like NJ was interested too. Their GM talking about being "extorted" for a G seems like it means Sweeney was asking for a lot.
If we were to deal him to a team on his No Trad list, it really seems like it would have to be wrapped at least a few days before the deadline. Te way to get him to waive was probably a contract extension and that kind of thing isn't happening on deadline day.

Sean McDonough said late during today's broadcast that LA/Boston had a deal vetoed by Ullmark.

It will be much easier to move him this offseason He's not worth as much then, two playoff runs with Ullmark is better than one. The trade at the deadline was perfect because it also allowed you to have a strength during the majority of the season, two top 10 goalies keeping you in every game nearly every single game. The deadline for the B's represented the 80% of the season mark, lessening the need for two goalies especially with two good goalies in Providence in Bussi and DiPietro in that they could play as little as 4 or 5 games and Swayman would still be fresh going into the playoffs. The truth is despite Ullmark having better numbers than Swayman, Swayman was the better goalie for the majority of last season. Ullmark was unworldly at the beginning of the season but from December on Swayman was better to the end of the season last year and has been the better goalie the entire year this year.

Yeah but all that doesn’t matter if the guy has a NTC and doesn’t wanna go anywhere

FWIW Jimmy Murphy (Boston Hockey Now) has 3 separate sources who say it wasn't LA. Colorado is the team he's saying.

Moving Ullmark this offseason, from a NTC perspective, only gets a hair easier this offseason as his list of teams only decreases by 1 (16 to 15).
The big issue is that we don't know WHY he vetoed it. I think he has school age kids so is it that he didn't want to uproot them (or be away from them) mid year? Would he be more willing in the offseason?
Would he want to stay if Bs said that, going forward he'll be a pure backup instead of sharing the starting gig?
It'll be interesting for sure.

Yeah but all that doesn’t matter if the guy has a NTC and doesn’t wanna go anywhere His NTC is limited to 16 (?) teams. So he can be traded.

Right but he can essentially put the goalie needie teams on it and leave the ones with strong goalie situations off it and in effect it’s blocking out the heavy majority of trade possibilities I figure it’s easier in the offseason because Linus won’t have to leave his family behind for months (or uproot them in the middle of what I presume is the school year). It’s logistically a lot easier for Linus to manage a trade in the summer. I’ve seen speculation from Friedman that the team was an EC team, I’ve seen some Ottawa smoke out there. If that’s the case he may never approve a trade to there, they should not have even bothered to try lmao

I’m sure the list included every Canadian team and most if not all west coast teams because none of them seem to be stable in net and he probably doesn’t wanna go to either place, especially on such short notice without his family

Anyone notice the past 4 games the B's have only allowed 1 goal each game during regulation?

It’s unbelievable at this point
Should have been 3-1 with a Bruins PP. instead it’s now 4-0 with a completely deflated team
My fault for betting Bruins -1.5

I am ready to start embracing conspiracy theories. It is so ridiculous how they justified invent ways to screw the Bruins on these plays every time.

Hanlon's Razor tells us to never attribute to malice what might be explained by stupidity. I'd suppose Hanlon has a near cousin that exchanges "incompetence" for "stupidity"?

That ignores all the context that I'm talking about. Hate to repeat myself, but when our guy brushes a Goalie the answer is "contact with Goalie, No goal" and when it's our G being hit it's "didn't significantly impede his ability to make play" That's not incompetence or stupidity when they use one set of standards against us and a different one for us.

Not the prettiest but they finally got one done in OT, felt like they’d lost 10 3 on 3’s in a row
